Almost chemo time!

Hi everyone! It’s me Soulful Sunflower😘🌻

Port placement was rough... and still doesn’t feel good, but better than blowing out my veins weekly.  This last surgery took 3 tries to put my IV in. So the port makes it a lot easier for weekly chemo treatments and IV therapy.

Posted a pic of my baby, for some cuteness during these times❤️❤️💕

Today I want to share what I am packing with me to my first chemo. I also want to share brands that I’ve done research on that I am allowed to use for chemotherapy. I never really thought about if something had ingredients in it, it would effect chemotherapy. So I have done quite a bit of research on chemotherapy safe products.

Things I am bringing to chemo:

1. Obviously me and my dad (thank goodness for family and one visitor)

2. Chemo bag with tons of snacks, warm clothes, technology and books (will share books as I read them:)) it will last about 4 hours of chemo then I need to wear the cold caps for about 3 hours after chemo.

3. My cold caps, penguin cold caps are what I decided to get to save my hair: https://penguincoldcaps.com/

I added the link because some people want to do research on what I’m doing so I wanted to share. This won’t be easy, it will be A LOT of work, but I do believe the results will be worth it!!

Things I am going to use during chemo since they are chemo safe:

http://www.plumescience.com/  plume science has a product for brows and lashes. It may not grow mine out, but it will help nourish them giving me a chance to hopefully not fall out. All I want is for a chance to save my hair and eyelashes and brows, this will help me feel normal. When I reached out to this company they were amazing and responsive and told me I can use their products during chemo. They may not make my lashes and brows longer and thicker but will help nourish them and hopefully will help me from losing them! Worth a shot:) I’ll keep you ALL updated on this journey as it’s important for you all to see how it works:)

I also got rid of a lot of my skin products and turned to beautycounter for clean products that I can use during chemo. https://www.beautycounter.com/  I get my product through Tara Woodland and I am so glad I’ve slowly been making the switch to clean beauty! I’m not one to say I have to use clean, but now that i realize how important it is during chemotherapy to only use clean products, I feel that I want to give myself the best shot! I recently purchased shampoo and conditioner from beautycounter because I need shampoo and conditioner that is sulfate free, paraben free. I also have to wash my hair the third day after treatment with much cooler water. These are all things I need to do to help save my hair!

I bought silk pillowcases: I don’t know a brand I love but I got mine off Amazon

Velvet scrunchies : I got these as they have no metal and they are velvet so slides off and on without ripping my hair.

If anyone has any suggestions I would LOVE LOVE to know companies that are clean that will help me through this difficult and traumatizing experience for me. I am trying to optimize and make the best of this all🌻❤️

I promise to post pics of the cold caps once they are on and I am ready to rock n roll.

Love to you all!
